England fans have known it for 12 months, but it has been made official - Andrew Freddie Flintoff is the leading cricketer in the world . Wisden - the cricket almanack and cricket journal worth reading - have recognised the mighty efforts of Freddie in the last year and deservedly appointed him the best in the world. The award is only a couple of years old, with Australians Shane Warne and Ricky Ponting the recipients, but in amongst everything that Flintoff has done, it is no surprise to see him receive the accolade.

Elsewhere, Glamorgan and England bowler Simon Jones was named in the Top 5 cricketers of the year.
